Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. This notice explains the cookies and similar storage this website uses, and how you can control them.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. If you reject them, or ignore the banner, none of them are set. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link, which is also at the bottom of every page.
Cookies that are always on
These are needed for the website to work and do not track you.
- ex_consent_ads: remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics and advertising cookies, so we do not ask again on every page. Kept for 6 months.
- wordpress_*, wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-*: set only for our staff when they sign in to manage the website. Visitors do not receive these.
Analytics cookies (only if you accept)
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they use and whether the quote form works well. This helps us improve the website. Google Analytics does not tell us who you are.
- _ga: distinguishes one visitor from another. Kept for up to 2 years.
- _ga_*: keeps track of your visit. Kept for up to 2 years.
Advertising cookies (only if you accept)
We advertise on Google. These cookies tell us when someone who clicked one of our Google ads goes on to ask for a quote, call us or message us, so we can see which ads work. They are not used to show you ads on other websites.
- _gcl_au and other _gcl_* cookies: link a visit to the Google ad that was clicked. Kept for up to 90 days.
Google's own information about these cookies: policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
Information stored in your browser
As well as cookies, the website stores a little information in your browser's own storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to us:
- exForm: saves your progress in the quote form, so you do not lose your answers if you leave the page. It is cleared when you send the form.
- ex_obar: remembers when you have seen or closed the new-customer offer, so it is not shown too often.
Other services
The postcode checker on our areas page sends the postcode you type to postcodes.io to find its location. It sets no cookies. If you follow a link to WhatsApp or Google Maps, those services set their own cookies under their own policies.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, some parts of the website may not work as expected. Find out more at ico.org.uk.
